ARCHIVED - Shameful video: Malaga man drives around with a child on the roof of his car and puts videos on social media
The man from Málaga city was charged after posting videos on social media of driving around a minor on top of his car
A 20-year-old Málaga man has finally been identified for a crime that was caught on camera and posted on social media back in 2019. Two years ago, the internet watched aghast as a video emerged of the car driving at high speeds through Málaga city with a child on the roof.
While the events occurred back in December 2019, it has taken until now for a unit of local police officers specialised in tracing open sources on the internet and social networks to identify the perpetrator and charge him for “a crime against road safety for driving a motor vehicle in a manifestly reckless manner, specifically endangering a minor”.
The child, who was 15 years old at the time of the incident, was riding on the roof of the car with no kind of safety belt, apparently for fun as the videos show. If he fell off, he could have been seriously injured, to say the least.
After viewing the images, police were able to determine that the exact route of the vehicle started in Calle Periana, went onto Calle Casarabonela street until it ended up in Camino de San Rafael, then returned to the same streets before turning left in the opposite direction and stopping just in front of 9, Calle Ciudad de Andújar.
In another video, the same driver is shown driving at up to 187 kilometres per hour, though thankfully he wasn’t going that fast when the child was on top of the car.
Not the only child on the roof of a Málaga car
In what seems to be becoming some kind of extremely dangerous parenting trend, a 52-year-old driver from Málaga has also been sanctioned after a video was uploaded to social media of him driving along Avenida Moliere with two minors who were not wearing their seat belts, putting more than half of their bodies out of the sunroof on September 23.
