ARCHIVED - Showers and storms put Andalusia on yellow alert: Weather forecast December 5-11
Weather warnings have been issued for heavy downpours this week, as thunderstorms batter southern Spain

Andalusia weather forecast, Thursday December 8
This first full week of December in Spain is a special one as there are two nationwide bank holidays – one on Tuesday December 6 and another on Thursday 8 – which means that some businesses, schools and shops will be shut.
However, it will not be a great week for getting out and making the most of the holidays because there will be rain every day in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. Despite this, temperatures will actually be higher than last week, not falling below zero anywhere in the region, even in the high mountainous Sierra, and actually staying above 10ºC even at night in most places.
Almeria will be the warmest and driest place in the community, but it will still see its fair share of rain. On Monday December 5, the rainclouds will sweep in from the Atlantic in the west and across Seville, Cordoba and Malaga. Much of Huelva and Cadiz will be on yellow alert for Monday, and the coast of Cadiz even into Tuesday December 6.

On Tuesday, it will be the turn of the eastern provinces of Andalusia to get a bit of rain, including Almeria, Granada and Jaen, and many places will have moments of rain interspersed with sunshine and fog all day long.

On Wednesday 7, the western half of the region will once again get a drenching while everywhere from Malaga and Cordoba eastwards will remain dry and actually quite sunny for most of the afternoon.

Thursday and Friday, however, will be very wet all day long for everyone, and there will be thunderstorms coming and going across the region. This heavy, persistent rain will continue all the way into Sunday, with a brief respite on Saturday afternoon.

Andalusia weather forecast, Friday December 9
Spain’s official State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, only issues weather warnings three days in advance, so as yet there are no flood risk alerts for Andalusia for the tail end of the week, but keep your eyes peeled because these could well be issued later in the week.
