Skeletal remains of a woman found inside a suitcase in Malaga
The grisly discovery was made by a gardener close to a residential development in Benahavís, Malaga province
The skeletal remains of a woman believed to be between 25 and 40 years old have been found inside a suitcase close to a residential development in the Malaga town of Benahavís.
The grim discovery was made by a gardener who raised the alarm, prompting a police investigation.
The man initially found a skull and notified the Guardia Civil who sealed off the area and searched further with sniffer dogs. It was during the search the suitcase was found half buried close to the skull containing other bones, women's clothing, a radical saw and cutting discs.
The suitcase is now being analysed by forensics experts who are working on a theory that it was used to hide and transport the body.
The skull showed signs of having suffered a blow, and analysis suggests the victim died about 15 years ago.
Investigators are checking the DNA database to see if they find a match to a missing persons report.
