ARCHIVED - Spain air traffic controller strikes: all the dates and how it could affect an airport near you
Air traffic controllers in Spain will be striking for five Mondays in a row
As no agreement on labour conditions was reached between the unions representing air traffic controllers in Spain and their employers, the air traffic controllers strikes scheduled for January and February will be going ahead as planned at Spanish airports.
The air traffic controllers have been asking, via the CCOO union, for a increase in their salary of 5.5%, but service providers in the privatised control towers in Spain are offering staggered pay increases for the years 2021 (0%), 2022 (1%), 2023 (2% ) and 2024 (2.5%), which the union says “falls far short” of expectations.
The strikes will start this Monday January 30 and will continue every Monday in February – on Monday 6, 13, 20 and 27.
