Spain weekend weather forecast May 15-18: Rising heat ahead of stormy start to next week
In another week of weather ups and down, many parts of Spain could see the mercury hit 30ºC over the next couple of days

Temperatures forecast on Sunday May 18
Spain’s weather roller-coaster is set to continue. After a cooler spell and some stormy episodes at the end of this week, much of the country can look forward to rising temperatures over the weekend before unsettled conditions return early next week.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), atmospheric instability will reappear on Thursday May 15, bringing the risk of strong storms and hail, especially in mountainous areas. Despite this, temperatures will rebound in the coming days and could exceed 30°C in some areas over the weekend.
But before this, the mercury will drop slightly on Thursday, particularly inland.

Weather forecast on Thursday May 15
"It will be a truly cool day for the season, with temperatures between three and five degrees below normal," said Aemet spokesperson Rubén del Campo, adding that large areas of the north and both plateaus will see maximum temperatures below 20°C.
The weather will be stable in the Canary Islands, with clouds in the north of the more mountainous islands and some drizzle.
Beginning Friday May 16, "a change in weather begins with a greater predominance of high pressure," Mr Del Campo explained. While isolated storms may still develop, particularly in mountainous areas near the Cantabrian Sea, these are expected to be generally weak and scattered.

Weather forecast on Friday May 16
Elsewhere, skies will range from partly cloudy to clear. The most noticeable change will be in temperatures, with a "significant" rise in the north, east and south of Spain. Highs in these areas will climb around six degrees compared to Thursday, pushing much of the country above 20°C by Friday.
"In general, temperatures will be typical for the season after several days of cool weather," the meteorologist added. Forecasts for Friday include 22°C in Madrid, 24°C in Barcelona and 25°C in Huesca, Jaén and Granada.
In Murcia and Sevilla, the mercury could hit 30°C. Cooler spots will persist in San Sebastián, Burgos and Ávila, where highs will struggle to reach 18°C.
This upward trend is set to continue over the weekend before conditions shift again next week.

Weather forecast on Saturday May 17
On Saturday May 17, temperatures are expected to exceed 25°C in parts of Galicia, the Ebro Valley and much of southern Spain, with highs reaching or surpassing 30°C
By Sunday May 18, highs of 25°C are forecast across much of the northern plateau, as well as central and southern inland areas. In Extremadura, southern Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucia, temperatures could reach 30°C.

Weather forecast on Sunday May 18
"It will be a warm day," Mr Del Campo noted, with Córdoba and Jaén possibly hitting 34–35°C.
Rainfall will be limited on Saturday, but showers may develop across the northern half of the country on Sunday. A DANA is expected to settle near the Portuguese coast early next week, bringing a return of stormy conditions to northern Spain along with a drop in temperature.
