Storms in the north and haze for days: Murcia weekly weather forecast June 16-19
There will be some haziness in Murcia this week and the chance of thunderstorms in the far north, but temperatures continue to rise unabated

Lorca under the calima
Most of this week in the Region of Murcia will bring a continuation of the calm, sunny and warm weather we have been having recently, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), but there could be some stormy periods in places and more hazy conditions as the calima continues to hang in the sky.
Monday June 16 is bright and sunny for the most part. Though Aemet does not there could be what they call “dust in suspension, with the possibility of mud deposits”. This calima could make it seem hazy at certain times of day, and there is a chance of “isolated thunderstorms in the northern sierras of the Region”. Indeed, for Monday and through to Wednesday, parts of inland Spain are on yellow alert for the risk of thunderstorms, though these weather warnings will not affect the Region of Murcia.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms increases on Tuesday 17, especially in the north of the Region, where Aemet says they could be “accompanied by very strong gusts of wind” of up to 35kmh. The south and coastal parts of Murcia should be cloudy but otherwise not affected by the rain and strong winds.

From Wednesday 18, it seems that things will calm down somewhat as, while the chance of afternoon showers remains for the north and there will be some cloudy patches for all, for the most part it will be a warm and settled day.

Thursday 19 brings “intervals of cloudy skies, with a predominance of medium and high clouds” and the usual “daytime cloudiness in the northern mountain ranges of the region, without ruling out occasional showers and thunderstorms, more likely in the northwest”.
It remains warm, as even minimum temperatures at night this week will barely drop below 20ºC for the entire Region of Murcia, and during the day we will regularly be reaching up into the low-30s for the south of the Region and up to 35ºC for inland parts. These temperatures will continue to rise as Aemet forecasts a bright and sunny weekend ahead.
