The Murcia restaurant being applauded for its innovative tapas by The Guardian
The restaurant where tradition meets modernity in each and every dish they serve has become a favourite for people in Murcia capital
The Murcian restaurant Gaia Espacio Gastronómico, in the heart of the Region’s capital city, has had attention bestowed on it by British newspaper The Guardian in an article highlighting its merits.
Opened in 2022, Gaia Espacio Gastronómico has become a favourite among food fans, as it offers a unique experience for all those that walk through its doors.
The establishment is famed in the region for its combination of modernity and tradition in each dish that it creates.
The menu is crafted by a careful selection of gourmet products ranging from artisanal cheeses to quality canned fish.
The dishes also have a deep relationship with Murcia and the food that has been born from the Region. The restaurant is known for its caballitos with chimichurri and its roasted tomato on toast with smoked sardine.
At the centre of everything this restaurant creates is the ingredients. The ingredients are cherished and picked for their quality. The restaurant loves to serve its customers acorn-fed Iberian ham, described as “delicately cured to offer an unrivalled flavour”.
Among the most original options is a tapa of chato murciano sausage with parmesan cheese, an unforgettable appetiser. Gaia however, does not rely only on interrupting traditional dishes. The restaurant is becoming renowned for inventing some particularly delicious plates of food.
Take for example its salmorejo with fried bits of cod. The dish is creative and much loved, while their salmon marinated in beetroot is unique and innovative.
The restaurant averages about 22 euros per person and so is not the cheapest restaurant to be found in Murcia. The dining quality is high and the food is delicious, but the establishment is possibly more suitable for tourists, as locals could possibly find the prices too high despite the wonderful food.
Murcia is forever gaining recognition for its culinary offering. With recommendations such as that from The Guardian, the city is positioning itself as a destination that not only invites you to explore, but also to taste the best of Spanish and Murcian cuisine.
