TUI axes UK-Spain route amid wider summer 2025 flight cuts

The airline has cut one of its flight routes from Almería Airport, which has seen expanded easyJet services instead

TUI Airways has announced significant changes to its summer 2025 schedule, cutting several routes, including flights from Manchester to Almería, in Spain’s Andalucía. This decision is part of a broader reduction affecting services to Greece, Spain, Turkey and Cape Verde from UK airports such as London Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol.

The move follows TUI’s earlier decision to cancel flights to St Lucia, Costa Rica, and Florida’s Melbourne Orlando International Airport. Despite this setback, travellers can still reach Almería from Manchester, as Ryanair continues to operate direct flights on this route.

Meanwhile, Almería Airport is also seeing positive developments, with easyJet expanding its operations. The low-cost airline is launching a new direct summer route between Bristol and Almería, operating twice weekly from 24 June 2025.

This follows an earlier announcement of flights from London Luton, adding to existing services from London Gatwick and London Southend. easyJet’s Managing Director for Southern Europe, Javier Gándara, highlighted the benefits of the new Bristol connection, citing improved cultural and economic links. Additionally, Almería Airport is set to welcome flights to Budapest, further strengthening its international connectivity.

These changes highlight the evolving landscape of air travel, with some airlines scaling back while others expand their presence. Despite the loss of the TUI route, Almería Airport continues to develop as a key entry point to Andalusia, offering travellers more options for the future.
