ARCHIVED - TUI to begin flights all year round between Jerez and 5 German cities
Passengers will be able to fly to Jerez from Düsseldorf, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt in both winter and summer
The Provincial Tourism Board of the Cádiz Provincial Council is finalising a contract with the tour operator TUI to guarantee direct flights between Jerez de la Frontera Airport (Cádiz) and various German cities, both this winter and in the 2023-2024 summer season.
The five German cities that have direct connections with Jerez de la Frontera airport this winter are Düsseldorf, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. The aim is to increase the number of routes, the number of seats available on flights and the frequency of these connections.
This new deal is part of the Council’s connectivity tender for which TUI has been awarded the German market for a value of approximately 600,000 euros, and may be extended beyond 2024 if it works.
According to the Cadiz Provincial Council, there will be connections between these points during all months of the year with TUIfly, the first winter ever when there have been these permanent connections.
In total, TUI estimates that the number of scheduled flights between Jerez and Germany will be around 20,440 from November 2022 to April 2023, a figure that’s 33% higher than the same figure between November 2018 and April 2019 before the pandemic.
The first vice-president of the Cádiz Provincial Council and head of the Provincial Tourist Board, José María Román, has emphasised that this deal will contribute to the “long-awaited deseasonalisation” of Jerez, and the province of Cadiz as a whole, which are viable vacation destinations all year round.
