Two pupils from The British School of Almería have achieved the highest international academic distinctions, earning top marks in globally recognised examinations.

 

“At The British School of Almería, we are proud to share the extraordinary academic achievements of our pupils, which reflect the educational excellence and commitment to learning that characterise our school,” the school said after the results were announced.

 

Jimena, a Year 11 pupil (above, right), achieved the highest mark in the world in her French exam within the Cambridge Assessment International Education IGCSE programme. The qualification, designed for students aged 14 to 16, assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on practical communication. Achieving the top global mark places her ahead of thousands of candidates worldwide.

 

Overall, the school reported that 92% of pupils attained grades between 4 and 9 in their IGCSEs, with 43% reaching the highest band of 7 to 9. This figure is around 20% above the UK national average.

 

Ana, a Year 12 student (left), also recorded outstanding results, achieving the highest mark in Europe for Business and the highest mark in the world for English Literature under the Pearson Edexcel system. These subjects assess analytical thinking, interpretation and the application of knowledge in real-world and academic contexts.

 

“Jimena and Ana’s achievements reflect not only their academic talent, but also their hard work, dedication and commitment,” the school concluded.
