ARCHIVED - Urban artist Okuda is creating two new murals in Ronda
The murals are being created by Cantabrian urban artist Okuda in Ronda.
As visitors begin to come back to popular areas across Andalucia, Ronda council has announced that urban artist Okuda is creating two new murals on a building in the centre of the city in a bid to modernise the area and provide a new attraction for tourists.
The murals were unveiled by the mayor of Ronda, who thanked Malaga Provincial Council and the Costa del Sol Tourism Board for working together to finance the works, as well as the residents of the building where the murals are being created for agreeing to the art.
The council explained that the murals, which will be created above the bus station, will be part of a new tourism route through Ronda which is expected to bring in around 80,000 visitors to the city this summer and that further works to create a new station will also be unveiled.
Cantabrian artist Okuda said that the art will be a modern vision of the tradition, culture and art linked to Ronda.
He said that he has looked to the place where the murals will be located for inspiration and at Andalusian culture to create art that is a modernist version of its traditional elements.
