ARCHIVED - US warns citizens not to travel to Spain or Gibraltar
Americans are being advised not to go to Spain or Gibraltar due to spiralling Covid cases
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new advice on Monday December 20, listing eight countries that they don’t recommend Americans to travel to, including Spain and the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.
There are now some 85 countries listed by the CDC in its highest classification level, “Level 4: Very High”, including almost all of Europe. The eight additions to this list yesterday were Spain, Finland, Chad, Lebanon, Bonaire, Monaco, San Marino and Gibraltar.
The addition of Spain and Gibraltar to this list coincides with an explosion of new coronavirus infections, with around 80,000 new cases reported in Spain over the weekend and the 14-day cumulative incidence rate soaring by almost 100 points.
