VIDEO: Exhausted carriage horse collapses in Sevilla after pulling tourists for hours in blistering sunshine
The animal rights party (PACMA) in Andalusia is demanding the carriages are replaced with electric alternatives
An exhausted carriage horse collapsed in Sevilla after pulling sightseeing tourists around the city centre for hours in scorching temperatures, sparking public condemnation from the animal rights party (PACMA).
Just as the infamous donkey taxis in Mijas, Malaga, are expected to carry holidaymakers around the town's pretty streets in blistering sunshine, scores of horses in Sevilla are expected to do the same as the summer season brings with it a rush of tourists.

"These horses are forced to pull heavy carriages for hours in high temperatures. Many, like this one, collapse exhausted. There are alternatives! We demand that they be replaced by electric carriages," PACMA captioned a distressing video of the horse laid on the ground before being kicked by the carriage driver to try to get it back on its feet.
PACMA wants to see some sort of action similar to that taken in Barcelona where horse carriages are banned.
"There are places that have witnessed the ordeal that carriage horses go through and this practice is no longer allowed, such as in Barcelona," argued the animal rights party.
Barcelona City Council decided not to renew the only remaining concession in force in 2018, three years after the death of a horse pulling a carriage with tourists in the summer of 2015.
