ARCHIVED - VIDEO: Flash flood takes tourists by surprise on Cadiz beach
This is the second time in a month that beachgoers have nearly been washed away by a surge of water in Cadiz
The Playa de Bolonia beach in Cadiz offered up some truly remarkable images this Saturday, September 10, when the tide suddenly rushed in, leaving barely a speck of sand untouched.
Tourists and locals who were spending the afternoon on the beach were momentarily surprised by this spectacular rise, which practically reached all the way up to the ‘chiringuito’ beach bars, meaning that the numerous people trying to make the most of one of the last summer afternoons had to quickly gather up their belongings so they wouldn’t be swept away by the sea.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Just a month ago, on August 13, there was another completely unexpectedly sudden rise in the sea level on the Valdelagrana beach in El Puerto de Santa María, which came in with force – in some areas up to the middle of the wide beach – and which was mistaken for a small tsunami at the time.
