A malnourished mare was rescued last Saturday night, October 7, by the municipal cleaning staff and agents of the Local Police of Almería, who found her abandoned in the Avenida del Mar near the city centre.

The animal, as reported by Almería Town Hall, was suffering from severe malnutrition and was slumped on the ground, although it is said to be recovering already and in good condition.

The mare has now been taken to the Municipal Zoosanitary Centre where she is being treated and cared for by specialised staff.

Despite the state in which she was found, the same sources assure that the animal is already eating “and everything indicates that she is going to recover perfectly”.

It is unclear where the animal came from, who the owner is, and how she managed to wind up on a city street.
