Video shows hair-raising moment a landslide in Spain nearly wipes dozens of homes of the map
Luckily, no one was hurt and the houses right next to ridge of the Andalucía town’s cliff did not fall down
Residents of the picturesque Spanish town of Arcos de la Frontera got the fright of their lives when a sudden landslide threatened to send their homes plummeting down a sheer cliff face.
The incident happened at around midday on Thursday October 26 in the small town, which is perched on the side of a cliff in the province of Cádiz, Andalucía.
Several houses are located very near to the edge of the cliff known as Peña Vieja (Old Cliff), but thankfully none of them were damaged and nobody was hurt when the scree of rocks suddenly decided to take a tumble.

The Mayor of Arcos de la Frontera, Miguel Rodríguez, along with the Councillors for Town Planning and Infrastructure all went to visit the Calle Cardenal Spínola street and surroundings to check out the effects of the landslide and the state of the houses closest to where it happened.
This Friday, municipal technicians will carry out an exhaustive examination of the area to assess the real damage caused by this landslide.
Along with neighbour Vejer de la Frontera, Arcos is a popular town for visitors thanks to its beautiful winding cobbled streets and incredible views.
This is not the first time that Arcos has suffered this type of landslide, and it puts in question the safety and durability of those living on the edge in the town.
