ARCHIVED - WATCH: Kamikaze motorist drives 8km in wrong direction to avoid Granada anti-drug control
The driver was identified via CCTV speeding along the A-7 between La Mamola and Castillo de Baños in Andalucía
A motorist who put his own and other people's lives at risk when he sped along the A-7 between La Mamola and Castillo de Baños in the province of Granada to avoid a police roadblock is under investigation for reckless driving and disobeying the law.
On January 11, the Guardia Civil deployed an anti-drug control at kilometre 367 of the A-7 in La Mamola, checking vehicles travelling towards Almería.
As they were stopping cars, officers noticed a black BMW car brake sharply, turn around on the road and flee at high speed towards oncoming traffic.

The driver endangered the lives of the occupants of numerous passing vehicles for 8km before taking the Castillo de Baños exit at kilometre 359, and moments later rejoining the A-7 travelling in the right direction.
A Guardia Civil traffic patrol attempted to intercept the vehicle at Castell de Ferro, without success, so officers asked the Traffic Control Centre in Malaga for a list of the number plates of all the vehicles that had travelled on the motorway during the specific period of time.
They also requested images recorded by the cameras located on the stretch of road.
After studying the CCTV, police traced the car to a man in Granada who is now being investigated by the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Granada.
