ARCHIVED - WATCH: Woman caught riding electric scooter on Malaga motorway
The woman was fined 200 euros for illegally driving on the busy Andalucía road

A Malaga woman was fined last month for illegally riding an electric scooter along the left lane of the AP-7 motorway between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona, placing both herself and other road users at obvious risk.
Several stunned motorists made calls to the Traffic division of the Guardia Civil, reporting that the scooter user was riding her personal mobility vehicle on a narrow hard shoulder, oblivious to the cars and trucks speeding past her.

When a patrol from the Traffic Division of Marbella arrived on the scene they established that the woman had somehow managed to travel along the motorway for 12 kilometres; not only that, but the battery on the scooter had run out, so she had resorted to physically propelling the mobility vehicle with her foot.
This, along with the stifling temperatures of the June heatwave, meant that the woman was completely exhausted when officers intervened.
Using scooters on motorways or dual carriageways is expressly prohibited by the Road Safety Law and the driver was fined 200 euros.
