WATCH: Ryanair passenger falls off jet bridge attempting to catch Malaga flight
The man tumbled more than 3 metres on to the runway at Malaga Airport
Most people have cut it a bit fine at one time or another and arrived late to the airport only to find that the flight has left without them, but one Ryanair passenger simply wasn’t taking no for an answer when airline staff at Malaga airport told him that he was too late to board the plane.
Flight FR4460 was due to depart Spain for Fes Saiss Airport (FEZ) in Morocco at 12.05 on Thursday June 15 but the gate had already closed and the plane was ready to take off when the hapless traveller arrived. Not to be deterred, he dashed past Ryanair staff and onto the jet bridge, running towards the aircraft. Unfortunately for him, the bridge had been disconnected from the plane and he can be seen slumping to the ground, flummoxed.
Sitting on the edge of the bridge, the man is heard pleading with the panicked ground crew for a ladder, before trying to scramble down onto the tarmac. The passenger took quite a tumble from around 3.5 metres onto the runway but was luckily uninjured.
🚨Un hombre ha protagonizado esta escena en el aeropuerto de Málaga. Al parecer, llegó tarde al embarque de su vuelo, que ya había finalizado y se coló por el finger con la intención de abordar el avión. According to an Aena spokesperson, the Guardia Civil were called to Malaga airport to deal with the determined passenger, but it’s unclear whether he was eventually allowed to board his flight. What is known is that the man was certainly in breach of air safety rules and will now most likely be fined by the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority.
Unsurprisingly, video footage of the dramatic attempt has since gone viral but the other passengers aboard the Boeing 737 were less than amused, since his stunt delayed take off by more than an hour.
Incredibly, such dangerous traveller tantrums are anything but rare and back in 2016, a Bolivian passenger was filmed launching himself off the jet bridge and sprinting along the runway after a departing Ryanair flight from Madrid. On this occasion, the customer was actually allowed to board the plane but he was met by cops at the airport in Gran Canaria and fined.
