ARCHIVED - Wind, rain, snow and rapidly falling temperatures: Andalusia weather forecast January 16-22
It seems winter has finally arrived in the south of Spain, with driving winds of up to 90kmh this week
Andalucia weather warnings, Tuesday January 17
With inclement weather sweeping across Spain this week, bringing thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and even snow to snow parts, the southern region of Andalucia will be battered by extremely high winds, especially in the west.
Orange weather alerts have been issued along the coast of Almeria and Granada from Monday January 16 until at least Wednesday 18 for gale force 8 winds and waves of between 3 and 4 metres high, while further inland in Jaén there are yellow and orange warnings for windspeeds of up to 90kmh in some places – well in excess of 50mph.
Meanwhile, there will be heavy cloud cover across the whole region and the rain will come and go in spurts across inland areas of Cadiz, Malaga and Seville across the beginning of the week, strengthening as we get into Wednesday. Snow is also forecast in Jaén and the higher altitude parts of the region.

From Thursday 19 onwards, though, the weather should start to brighten up a bit. There will be widespread sunshine across Andalucia and, with the exception of some dark clouds and localised rainfall on Friday 20, it should turn out to be a settled and sunny weekend.

That said, the temperatures from Wednesday onwards will begin to drop, with minimums at night-time dropping below zero for the first time in ages (mainly in the high mountainous areas). Daytime maximum temperatures, mostly along the coastline, will no longer breach the 20-degree mark, leaving a much cooler impression than last week.

- Wednesday January 18: Min -3ºC; Max 17ºC
- Thursday January 19: Min -5ºC; Max 17ºC
- Friday January 20: Min -2ºC; Max 19ºC
- Saturday January 21: Min -3ºC; Max 19ºC
- Sunday January 22: Min -6ºC; Max 18ºC
