Yacht passengers filmed shooting killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar
The boat was headed towards the port of Almeria when the happened upon the orcas in open water

A disturbing video of several crew members firing guns and pyrotechnic explosives at a group of killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar has gone viral, sparking a major police probe to track down the culprits.
The shocking footage clearly shows the occupants of the catamaran taking several shots at the animals, but it’s not clear whether any of the bullets actually hit the whales. Through close examination of the video by agents from Seprona and the Provincial Maritime Service, the luxury vessel was identified and officers realised it was headed for the port of Almeria.
Investigators tacked the boat to El Ejido where they questioned those on board and searched the vessel for other weapons and explosives, although “no more were found,” according to a police spokesperson.
He confirmed that the catamaran was travelling around the world and that the crew were able to provide “all kinds of documentation and registration for the ship.”
Seprona has initiated a criminal investigation against the skipper of the boat and the person who shot at the protected whales.
