ARCHIVED - Young men who kidnapped women in Marbella released from jail
The young men who held two girls in a house in Spain’s Puerto Banús have been provisionally let go
Four of the five young men arrested last Sunday, November 13, after holding an underage British girl and a young Lithuanian woman hostage in a house in Puerto Banús, Malaga, have been provisionally released as agreed on Tuesday by the Court of Instruction number 2 of Marbella, who will continue investigating the case, as reported by the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA).
The four young men are being investigated for allegedly committing the crimes of illegal detention, sexual assault and illegal possession of a weapon. A fifth youth, a minor, was also arrested on the night of the incident for his alleged involvement in the case. However, he has been placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling his case separately.
The events took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Marbella, at around 5am, when a young woman alerted investigators that her friend was in a house with several men and that there were weapons on the premises.
On arriving at the house, police located two girls and arrested five young men – one British, one Irish, one Finnish, one Iranian and one Moroccan. The Brit broke his ankle after falling from a wall when he tried to flee from the officers. In addition, a pistol and a submachine gun were found in the house, which turned out to be simulated weapons, and a machete and a knife were seized.
Police investigations suggest that the girls met the young men at a discotheque in Puerto Banús and that they all voluntarily agreed to go to a house located in the vicinity of the premises, where they were drinking alcohol.
While there is currently no evidence, either from the hospital where the girls were treated or from their own statements, that they were victims of any crime of a sexual nature, for the moment, the police investigation remains open until the facts are fully clarified.
