Young British man arrested for rape in Malaga
The 27-year-old reportedly attacked a woman, also from the UK, in a Marbella hotel room
A 27-year-old British man has been arrested in Marbella, Málaga for allegedly raping a young woman in a hotel room in the popular holiday spot of Puerto Banús.
The victim is also believed to be from the UK and around a year younger than her attacker.
The reported assault took place on Thursday May 9 after the pair met at a well-known beach club in the Costa del Sol resort on a night out with two different groups of friends. After a fun evening, the party moved to a luxury hotel where the victim claims the non-consensual sexual relations took place.
She immediately reported the rape to the National Police, who wasted no time in arresting the alleged perpetrator. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for an examination.
Last month, three men aged between 24 and 34 were sentenced to more than eight years in prison each for the brutal gang rape of a British tourist in Benidorm. The men, whose identities have not been released pending a potential appeal, were found guilty of the heinous crime following a trial at Alicante's Audiencia Provincial Court.
