ARCHIVED - Andalusia reports 3,687 cases and 14 deaths and lowers its Covid rate for the tenth consecutive day
The fifth wave is decelerating and the accumulated Covid incidence rate is once more on the way down in Andalusia

Andalusia has reported a total of 3,687 new cases of coronavirus diagnosed within the latest 24-hour period on Friday, August 13, the data relating to the period up to midnight on Thursday.
Although still a high figure, this latest total is lower than the 4,651 on the same day last week, according to data produced by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA), which also reports 14 deaths for this latest 24-hour period. Although this figure is also a lot higher than at the end of the fourth wave, it follws three consecutive days with more than 20 deaths (22 on Thursday, 24 on Wednesday and 28 on Tuesday) so is a positive piece of news, although 14 deaths is 14 too many.
The 14 deceased were from Málaga and Cádiz (four deaths each), followed by Córdoba with two, and Almería, Granada, Jaén and Seville with one in each province. Huelva is the only Andalusian province that has not repòrted any Covid-related fatalities in the latest 24-hour period.

This reduction in the number of new cases means that the community's cumulative incidence rate has dropped for the tenth day in a row after 33 days of consecutive increases and stands at 510.4 per 100,000 inhabitants across the last 14 days, 17 points less in the latest 24 hour period and 71, 3 points lower than a week ago.

The 3,687 positives reported this Friday follow the 3,669 of Thursday, the 3,059 on Wednesday, the 3,418 on Tuesday, the 4,184 on Monday and Sunday, the 4,360 on Saturday and the 4,651 on last Friday, so the downward trend is now noticeably visible.
By provinces, Seville continues to report the highest cases with 927, followed by Malaga with 810, Cádiz with 482, Granada with 347, Jaén with 326, Huelva with 273, Córdoba 266, Almería with 256.
