1.9-magnitude earthquake shakes Lorca awake on Christmas Day
A 1.9 magnitude earthquake was felt early on Christmas morning, but caused no injuries or damage to the city

Usually, it's children shaking you awake on Christmas morning. But in Lorca this year, the culprit was a small earthquake.
The tremor struck in the early hours of Christmas Day at 5.18am, northwest of the city. Measuring 1.9 on the Richter scale and at a shallow depth of 3 kilometres, it caused no injuries or damage.
Lorca often feels earthquakes because it sits in an active seismic zone in southeastern Spain. Most tremors are minor, but the city has had serious ones in the past, including a 5.1-magnitude quake in 2011 that caused major damage.
This Christmas morning's 1.9 tremor was brief and caused no harm at all.
