Abandoned Benalmadena hotel to be torn down after 16 years
The Los Pintores hotel complex has been closed since 2008 due to the financial crash
Estate agents Aliseda Inmobiliaria have formally requested the demolition of a hotel complex with three buildings in Benalmádena (Málaga) which have been abandoned for 16 years.
This is the Los Pintores hotel complex, which has 394 rooms and which has been closed to visitors since the property and financial crisis of 2008.
As well as looking to demolish the standing building, Aliseda is working to try to sell the plots of land, which are on the second row back from the beach, to “hotel or residential” developers.
For over a decade now, the hotel has stood empty with its windows and doors boarded up and has been vandalised with graffiti.
Last month, the Lagomar ghost hotel in La Manga del Mar Menor (Murcia) was finally torn down after laying abandoned for over 50 years, while the Algarrobico hotel in Carboneras (Almería) – built on protected, ‘undevelopable’ land – still stands despite repeated requests to take it down.
