Alicante anticipates a golden year of cruising in 2025
More than 232,000 cruise passengers are expected to dock in the Costa Blanca port next year
Alicante Port is gearing up for a record-breaking year in 2025, with its docks set to welcome an unprecedented number of cruise passengers and a significant influx of luxury liners.
The Port Authority has already confirmed 97 cruise ship calls, 30% of which will be luxury vessels, signalling a new era of high-end tourism for the Costa Blanca.
Over the next year, industry insiders expect more than 232,000 cruise passengers to dock in Alicante, shooting past 2024’s figures and, if things go according to plan, ultimately exceeding the goal of 100 ships for the second consecutive year.
The cruise season will kick off in March with the arrival of the Seabourn Sojourn, a luxury cruise ship from the Seabourn Cruise Line, carrying 435 discerning passengers.
More than a third of the port's calls will be from exclusive or luxury cruises, a clear indicator that Alicante is becoming the go-to destination for high-spending travellers who appreciate the cultural and historical richness of the Costa Blanca and surrounds.
Among the new arrivals is the Scenic Eclipse, a state-of-the-art vessel from Scenic Cruises, which made its debut in 2018. With a capacity for 228 passengers, this ship is designed for polar navigation and features cutting-edge amenities, including two Eurocopter EC130 helicopters and a submersible capable of diving to depths of 300 metres.
The Port Authority naturally regards these developments as "good news, as it generates quality tourism and a significant additional socio-economic benefit for the entire Alicante region."
The MSC Música, a behemoth with a capacity for 3,200 passengers, will make 20 stops in Alicante during 2025, serving as the embarkation port for many of its voyages. This continued trust from MSC Cruises, the company making the most stops (31) at the port in 2025, underscores the growing importance of Alicante in the cruise industry.
Golf cruises
Just recently, the Association of Golf Courses of the Costa Blanca and the Valencian Community (ACGCBCV) and the Association of Alicante Costa Blanca Tourism and Cruises (ATC) signed a collaboration agreement.
This partnership aims to promote Alicante the Costa Blanca and the wider Valencian Community as a premier tourist destination, emphasising the region's world-class facilities and infrastructure.
Looking ahead, Alicante Port Authority is confident that 2025 will be a landmark year, with robust forecasts for passenger growth and the potential to exceed previous records.
