Almeria port control tower will be turned into a fancy hotel-restaurant
The old Control Tower of the Port of Almería is to be converted into a high-rise business building

The Control Tower is relatively recent, having been opened in 1997, but works afoot to refit and change the whole port area will make it obsolete as a working observation point and control centre.
Rather, the city of Almería have recognised its usefulness as a building that can be put towards public use as a future tourist attraction.
Plans to reform the building will go out to tender, with the winning proposal by interested parties earning the right to transform it as they see fit. Currently, several different possible uses have been advanced, including putting a restaurant at the top or turning it into a hotel.
The next few months will clear up the unknowns about this high-rise landmark, located near the popular Cable Inglés walkway. It joins other large-scale local public projects in the provincial capital city, such as the creation of a mirador viewpoint near the castle and the freeing up of more land in the city by burying the railway tracks underground.
