ARCHIVED - Andalusia incidence rate jumps by nearly 50 points in 48 hours; Covid update July 19
The situation is worsening in Andalucía and five more deaths have been reported in Málaga, Cádiz and Córdoba

The most recent Covid update in Andalucía, containing combined data from Sunday (July 18) and Monday (July 19), reports a further increase in cases; 4,103 in the past 48 hours.
This combined figure is the highest in the past four months, which is when the region started reporting Sunday’s and Monday’s figures together.
Of the 4,103 new cases, 1,509 were in Málaga, 602 were in Cádiz, 539 in Sevilla, 336 in Almería, 315 in Córdoba, 291 in Granada, 272 in Huelva and 239 in Jaén.
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days is also on the rise and now stands at 398.5, whereas last Friday (July 16), the figure reported was 351.15.
In total, 287 municipalities in Andalucía have a cumulative incidence rate above 250, situating these areas in the extreme risk zone. This is a 53 per cent increase since last week and Granada is the province with the most municipalities in the extreme risk zone.
Hospitalizations: since the previous update, 13 more people have been admitted into hospital with coronavirus, making the total number of patients 712, of whom 149 are in intensive care.
Recoveries: the total number of people to have recovered from Covid in the region is 607,032; 1,136 in the past 48 hours.
Fatalities: a further five people have unfortunately lost their lives to Covid, bringing the total number of deaths to 10,263. Two of the deaths were in Cádiz, two were in Málaga and one was in Córdoba.
The situation in Andalucía, and the rest of Spain, appears to be worsening and, in a bid to speed up the vaccination progress, two mass vaccination campaigns are taking place in Málaga this week.
Other parts of Spain are also speeding up the immunization process, with the Region of Murcia already vaccinating 20 to 29-year-olds and the Valencia region planning to catch up in the next 15 days.
