ARCHIVED - Brit arrested after bouncer dies in fight at Costa del Sol restaurant owned by TOWIE star Elliott Wright
The doorman died breaking up a brawl at Olivia's La Cala near Marbella, Malaga province
A 32-British man has been arrested in connection with the death of a doorman at a restaurant in La Cala, Marbella, owned by former TOWIE star, Elliott Wright on Sunday April 16.
Venezuelan-born bouncer, Jose Rafael Pisani Pardo, 55, died of injuries sustained trying to break up a fight during the early hours. The bodybuilder and personal trainer was reportedly pushed or punched during the altercation.
He suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to ICU in Malaga but was declared brain dead and his life machine was switched off.
Out of respect, the restaurant remained closed with Wright saying his "heart was broken" at the loss of Jose who had worked at the eaterie for two years.
Olivia’s said in a statement: “This weekend we lost a much loved and valued member of our team".
A manhunt was launched for the "attacker" and on Monday, at around 2pm, footage emerged of a 32-year-old Briton identified as HGJ.S being arrested by officers from an elite, rapid action Guardia Civil group called GAR.
In a statement, the force confirmed that following the death of "a person following an assault, the Guardia Civil in Mijas, with the support of the GAR unit, have today arrested the alleged author in Marbella".
They added that he is "a British national who had been on the run since the incident".
He is due to appear in court in a private hearing on Thursday or Friday when a judge will decide whether to remand him in custody or free him on bail while the investigation continues.
Following the death of the doorman, vandals spray-painted the words 'Mafia' and 'Asesino Elliott', on the entrance to the restaurant that was gutted in an arson attack two years ago. No arrests have been made in connection with the blaze that occurred just weeks after Wright's father, Edward George, died from coronavirus.
