Brit expat, 80, run over four times by drunk neighbour in Malaga
The 70-year-old suspect, also British, has reportedly subjected his Costa del Sol community to a “reign of terror” for years

Ex-Royal Navy commando David James, 80, says he feels “lucky to be alive” after a fellow Brit ran over him with his car four times. The victim was targeted by his neighbour in La Viñuela, Malaga, when he tried to stop him driving while visibly intoxicated.
The elderly suspect, who has been named only as DB, is a retired councillor from England. He has been arrested for attempted murder and a string of other charges relating to three other expats who were injured in the August 12 attack.
Speaking from a Costa del Sol hospital bed, David said: "I really thought I was a goner.
"I’ve lost all my teeth, fractured my pelvis and ribs, and fractured multiple bones in my face, I’m lucky to be alive."
David explained that the attack occurred at around 5pm as he was returning from lunch with his wife and some friends. The expats were stunned when their neighbour’s wife came running into the road screaming, followed by her “visibly highly intoxicated” husband.
David recalled: "She shouted 'he’s going to kill me, he’s going to kill me'."
Although he was clearly drunk, the neighbour climbed into his car and David and another local resident blocked off the end of the street with their own vehicles. With nowhere to go, the suspect stopped the car and David approached him to try and take his keys.
He said: "I then heard his engine rev and I knew what was going to happen, he came at me at full speed and knocked me against the wall.
"I smashed my head and I thought I was a goner, but somehow I was still conscious.
"Then he reversed over me, before running me over for a third time, this time on my arm, before reversing over me one more time.
"It was like something out of a Hollywood movie."
"He got out of his car and tried to stab me with a pole," David, a grandfather-of-five, added, "it was terrifying."
Friends, who claim the suspect has inflicted a "years-long reign of terror" on the urbanisation, pulled the victim to safety and the police were called.
In fact, David reported DB to police just 18 months ago when he reportedly attacked him with an axe.
"I told the local authority of every previous incident that occurred and I told them he was going to kill somebody one day, although I didn’t know that person would almost be me," he added.
