The new bridge is part of an expansion project costing approximately €1.25 million, aimed at enhancing the visitor experience. Construction is scheduled to begin in late March 2025, with the bridge expected to be operational by November 2025.
Located in Málaga province, Caminito del Rey is renowned for its dramatic walkways clinging to the cliff sides. Originally opened opened in 1905, by the Sociedad Hidroeléctrica del Chorro to facilitate the passage of workers between the installations that used the water of the Guadalhorce River to generate electricity, the trail fell into disrepair and was eventually closed for safety reasons.
After an extensive restoration, it reopened in 2015 and has since become one of Andalucía’s top tourist attractions, drawing nearly three million visitors and significantly boosting the local economy.

The new extension will not only feature the impressive bridge but also improve access with enhanced trails. This means more people will be able to enjoy the breath-taking scenery safely and comfortably. Currently, entrance to Caminito del Rey costs 10 euros for general admission and 18 euros for a guided tour, with tickets needing to be booked in advance due to high demand.
While the existing trail is already a bucket-list experience for many, this new addition promises to make it even more unforgettable. It promises to be an added safety feature for the trail, which is notorious as the site of many falls and even deaths.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for an awe-inspiring day out, the Caminito del Rey is about to offer an even more thrilling adventure in the heart of Andalucía’s stunning landscape.
