ARCHIVED - Curfew for non cohabitants delayed in Murcia until the weekend
The regional government of Murcia must wait for the ratification of the Supreme Court as it is a measure that affects fundamental rights
The measure restricting meetings between non-cohabitating people between the hours of 2am and 6am which was approved by the Covid Monitoring Committee earlier in the week will have to be delayed until this coming weekend. The Official State Gazette, published on Wednesday, July 28, didn’t include the restriction and health sources have indicated that it must first be ratified by the Superior Court of Justice of the Region of Murcia (TSJRM) as it affects fundamental rights.
The Ministry of Health expects the curfew to be approved on Friday or Saturday, and hopes that the measure will stop the increase in infections among the younger age groups, which has been on an upward trajectory since the end of June.
The regional government has also asked the TSJ to extend the measure restricting group sizes to a maximum of 10 non-cohabitants beyond August 3.
The whole of the Region remains in Level 2, indicating medium risk region wide and 41 of the 45 municipalities within the region are now classified as high-risk.
