ARCHIVED - Decapitated body found in Guadalquivir River, Andalusia
Police have yet to identify the victim discovered floating in the Cordoba river in Andalucía
The National Police has opened an investigation into the death of a man in his 60s who was found decapitated, floating in the Guadalquivir River on Monday October 11. The dismembered body was discovered in an area of cane fields located on a stretch of river that passes through the Cordovan capital.
Officers from the Firefighting and Rescue Service (SIX) were called shortly before 1pm to retrieve the corpse from the wáter, which was located in an area rich with vegetation.
Police are now trying to determine the identity of the victim and a coordinated search of the area is being conducted.
The body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine where a post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
