Elderly British pensioner reported missing on the Costa del Sol
The 75-year-old, who has Alzheimer's, was last seen in Mijas, Málaga, on Monday
Concern is growing for the welfare of 75-year-old British national Derek Mead, who was last seen on Monday afternoon, June 24, in the Mijas Pueblo area of Málaga. The missing pensioner suffers from Alzheimer's disease and is likely to be very confused and anxious.
Derek is described as having greyish-brown hair, brown eyes and is approximately 172cm tall. He was last seen wearing grey shorts, a blue short-sleeve t-shirt and grey sandals. Derek lives in Mijas la Nueva and was spotted outside a small supermarket called Ultramarinos, next to El Niño bar, at the entrance to the village.
The Guardia Civil, along with the GREA emergency search and rescue team, local police and Civil Protection volunteers, are actively searching for Derek. They are urging anyone with information or possible sightings to call the emergency numbers 062 or 112.
Additionally, Derek's wife, Jean Mead, can be reached directly at +44 7859 197518.
As an individual living with Alzheimer's disease, Derek may be in a state of distress and confusion. It is crucial that anyone who sees him or has any information contacts the authorities or his wife as soon as possible.
