ARCHIVED - Fire rages through shanty village in Almeria
Around 30 shacks were destroyed by the blaze in Andalucía
A fire in a shanty village in Atochares de Níjar, Almería, has destroyed between 20 and 30 shacks and left two people needing medical attention.
The emergency services in Andalucía received several phone calls about the blaze from around 3pm on Monday October 25. Firefighters, Local Police, Civil Protection officers, Guardia Civil and emergency healthcare workers were all dispatched to the scene of the fire, a small area with residential shacks.
According to 112 services in Andalucía, two people had to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns and between 20 and 30 shacks were affected by the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
