ARCHIVED - Five-day illegal rave in Granada sees one airlifted to hospital and dozens fined
So far, one raver has been arrested by Granada police in Andalucia after an officer was injured
Spanish police are still at the scene of an illegal five-day rave in the Granada municipality of La Peza, evicting the last of thousands of ravers who attended the event.
The unauthorised party on public land belonging to La Peza Town Hall got underway on Friday December 30, and the Guardia Civil has warned it will continue its "evacuation operation" until the site in completely cleared.
According to local authorities, incidents have been "minimal" so far, although dozens of fines have been issued and one raver, an Italian man in his thirties, had to be airlifted to Guadix hospital suffering from alcohol poisoning.
Another young male was arrested after he tried to jump a traffic control and injured a police officer assigned to a special security operation put together by the Guardia Civil at the weekend. This involves traffic cuts and detours to prevent growing crowds and minimise the effect of the rave other drivers.
Officers from Seprona, Public Safety and Traffic are also carrying out other security tasks such as alcohol and drug consumption controls on drivers and the sale of any narcotic substances, as well as monitoring the environmental impact of the five-day party.
Fines have been imposed for traffic offences, drug dealing, illegal possession of drugs and for damage to the environment, although the total amount won't be known until the rave clear-up is finished.
