French man, 32, dies in Fuengirola jet ski accident
This is the second fatal jet ski accident on the Costa del Sol this summer
A 32-year-old French man has died in Fuengirola, Malaga in an accident involving a jet ski. This is the second fatality in a jet ski incident so far this summer in Spain’s province of Malaga after a woman of the same age died in El Palo in July.
The latest incident occurred at 4.40pm on Wednesday August 9. According to those who phoned the emergency services, the jet ski had reportedly suffered an accident outside the marked area for bathing, opposite the Rey de España promenade in Fuengirola.
Two people were on the jet ski at the time, and the accident happened when they were riding a wave. It seems the Frenchman was thrown into the water and hit by the vehicle, but the exact cause of death will have to be determined by a police investigation.
He was quickly pulled from the sea, but despite the efforts of the large number of medical staff at the scene, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
On July 16, during the festivities in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, another woman died in a jet ski accident on the Costa del Sol.
