German man arrested for torture and murder in Malaga
The arrest was made in connection with a gruesome 2002 drug trafficking homicide in Marbella
Agents of the National Police, working in tandem with Turkish and German authorities, have captured a 32-year-old German man suspected of torturing and killing a Serbian citizen in Marbella in 2022.
The slain man, tied to Balkan criminal organisations, suffered three gunshots to the head and displayed extensive signs of torture. The killer was later caught in Turkey and brought back to Spain through an International Detention Order.
The incident unfolded in June 2022 when a real estate agent stumbled upon the corpse inside a Marbella house intended for lease. It later turned out that the murdered man was the tenant. When Police arrived, they discovered the victim gagged and tied to a chair. His head was covered in plastic wrap and his body bore multiple injuries, and ultimately, fatal gunshot wounds.
National Police officers initiated an investigation, joined by colleagues from the Malaga Provincial Police Station, Marbella Police Station and Greco Costa del Sol. Initial forensic examination indicated the involvement of a drug trafficking gang dispute. Ballistics samples and other relevant traces were gathered from the crime scene.
Identifying the victim proved challenging, as he assumed multiple fake identities. Eventually, with cooperation from German authorities, the man was revealed to be a 33-year-old Serbian with residency in Germany, carrying a rap sheet involving drugs and affiliations with Balkan crime syndicates.
Evidence showed that the Serbian entered the house on June 29, 2022, accompanied by rival drug dealers. Resulting disputes escalated into a brutal beating, rendering the man unconscious after several hours of torture. Finally, on the morning of June 30, the Serbian was murdered.
After the murder, the killers fled to Turkey, triggering an International Arrest Warrant. One of the wanted men, allegedly heading the drug ring branch on the Costa del Sol, was spotted in Turkey and deported back to Spain.
The suspect is a German citizen with Turkish nationality, with an extensive background in drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession in Turkey. Authorities believe that accomplices played roles in the homicide and continue to search for other conspirators.
