Granada woman conned out of 170,000 euros by man pretending to be Brad Pitt
The victim in Andalucía was reportedly convinced she was in a relationship with the Hollywood A-lister
An unfortunate love-struck woman in Granada, Spain has been swindled out of 170,000 euros after being catfished by a man pretending to be American actor, Brad Pitt.
The con-artist had set up an online profile in the Hollywood A-lister’s name and eventually managed to woo the woman into believing the pair were in an actual relationship.
According to Esya Legal, the law firm representing the woman who is said to be middle-aged, the two first made contact in early 2022 through what was basically a Brad Pitt fan Facebook page.
For months, the woman interacted on the social media account before conversing with the ‘man himself’ – or at least a wannabe who planned to con her out of thousands.
Her lawyer said the alleged scammer managed to gain the victim’s trust and she soon fell in love, believing they were in a romantic relationship.
The Pitt impersonator sent photos of his supposed attendance at red carpet events and even manipulated photographs, superimposing personal messages to the woman.
Le han estafado 170.000€ a una pava (de mediana edad) de Granada con montajes como este haciéndole creer que era la novia de Brad Pitt y que necesitaba el dinero para venir a España a grabar una peli con ella.

One of the messages written in Spanish (pictured above) reads: “Honey I really love you and I promise to pay you back. all right honey. I still love you and I’m still here for you.”
The con artist’s web of lies intensified, and he promised to come to Spain to shoot a film with the starry-eyed victim. This is when he began asking for money to cover his travel expenses and the woman obliged with bank transfers.
Eventually, when none of the promises transpired, she suspected she had been the victim of a scam and decided to take legal action on the basis of fraud, identity theft and even money laundering.
Her lawyer has confirmed the legal complaint is being processed, although there are no further details regarding exactly who will be held accountable or the identity of the alleged scammer.
