Jet2 launches two new direct flights between the UK and Alicante

The airline will begin operating a new route from the south of England to the Costa Blanca this spring

Jet2.com is set to soar to new heights this summer with the launch of two new direct routes to Alicante, promising a summer of sun and adventure for travellers from the UK.

As the fourth-largest airline at the Miguel Hernández Airport in 2024 and the third in terms of UK passenger traffic (610,000 travellers), Jet2 has announced an ambitious expansion plan for the 2025 summer season, adding more than 52,000 new seats to the Alicante-Elche airport.

The forecast is looking bright for Alicante-Elche, with Jet2's plans expected to bring in an impressive 515,000 tourists - a remarkable 11% increase from last summer.

This surge in visitors is largely thanks to the introduction of two new routes that will open up even more possibilities for holidaymakers.

First up, Jet2 will launch a direct flight from London Luton to Alicante, starting on April 3.

But the real game-changer is the new route to Bournemouth, a coastal city in the south of England. Beginning May 3, this route will not only expand Jet2's reach but also offer travellers from the Costa Blanca a gateway to one of the warmest regions in the UK.

Bournemouth, known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture, is also a stone's throw from Southampton, a hub for sailing enthusiasts.

Jet2.com says the company will offer direct flights to each of its 13 bases in the United Kingdom and will reach a peak of 93 weekly flights in the summer compared to 86 last year.

"Alicante-Elche will be the third busiest airport in Spain, of the 14 in which the company operates, in terms of passenger volume for the airline, only behind Palma and Tenerife," a spokesperson said.
