July 18 Free dramatized visit to the esparto grass museum of Aguilas
Experience the life of esparto grass harvesters and weavers in Águilas in centuries gone by
On Friday July 18, there is a free dramatized guided tour of the Esparto Grass Museum in Águilas, taking participants back to the time when, prior to the arrival of the railway and iron ore exports.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, esparto grass was the pillar of the local economy: at one point, Águilas was one of the most important esparto centres in the world, and by some distance the most important in Spain.
The dramatized tour shows what life was like for those involved in the industry and starts at 7.30pm at the tourist information office, lasting approximately 90 minutes.
