July 4 The Joscho Stephan Trio & Costel Nitescu and The Devon Allman Project at the 2025 San Javier International Jazz Festival
Jazz manouche and the latest songs from the Allman family at the open-air auditorium of Parque Almansa in San Javier!
First on stage in a double-header at the San Javier Jazz Festival on Friday 4th July are the Joscho Stephan Trio, led by a fabulous German guitarist Joscho Stephan whose roots lie in "jazz manouche", or "gypsy swing". Not only is he a master at performing the classic pieces of this style but also an expert at reinterpreting rock, pop, and classical music, bringing them into the world of jazz manouche with brilliant artistry.
His virtuoso guitar skills were clear for all to see and hear in his magnificent 2022 concert at Jazz San Javier, and this time he returns, alongside his trio, with the great Romanian violinist Constantin "Costel" Nitescu. Costel has visited San Javier on various occasions and also has a passion for jazz manouche, allied with a strong classical background, and is viewed as a successor to the legendary French violinist Stéphane Grappelli.
Line-up
Joscho Stephan: guitar
Sven Jungbeck: guitar
Volker Kamp: double bass
Costel Nitescu: violin
They are followed by The Devon Allman Project, led by guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and producer Devon Allman. If his surname sounds familiar that is probably due to his father, Gregg Allman, with whom Devon has occasionally appeared as a guest in The Allman Brothers Band. After various other groups including Honeytribe, Royal Southern Brotherhood, and The Allman Betts Band, Devon now presents his most personal project, into which he has poured the very best of his music.
Having already played at San Javier Jazz, he now returns at a pivotal moment in his career as he presents his first album of new songs in eight years, "Miami Moon", recorded in Miami.
Line-up
Devon Allman: guitar and vocals
Tyler Stokes: guitar and vocals
Johnathan Lum: drums
Christopher Turnbaugh: bass
David Gómez: percussion and saxophone
Bob Fridzema: keyboards.
This fourth concert in the 27th edition of the San Javier Jazz festival begins at 21.30 at the open-air auditorium in Parque Almansa in the centre of San Javier. Tickets are priced at 20 euros.
