June 6 to 9 Japanese gastronomy fair on the seafront in Puerto de Mazarron
The 2025 “Rojo & Red” event features top Japanese restaurant show cooking and a tapas zone
The Paseo Agustín Herrerín alongside Playa de la Ermita in Puerto de Mazarrón is becoming a hub for top-class Japanese cuisine over the long weekend of June 6 to 9 (brought about by the Day of the Region of Murcia on June 9), hosting the Rojo & Red gastronomy event and welcoming nationally and internationally acclaimed chefs, some of whom run Michelin-starred restaurants.
The most accessible attraction will doubtless be the tapas zone, but there are also live show cooking events, workshops, tastings, live music and other attractions over the four days.
Among the top chefs visiting are David Arauz (Zuara Sushi, Michelin star), Hugo Muñoz (Ugo Chan, Michelin), Hideki Matsuhisa (Koy Shunka, Michelin), Tomás Écija (El Albero), Matías Meza (Baru) and Edu J. Cerezuela (Bruma).
The schedule for the weekend, which may be altered due to unforeseen circumstances, includes the following:
Friday June 6
12.00: The tapas zone opens and the event is officially inaugurated.
16.00: Retropop perform Spanish hits from the 80s and 90s.
18.30 and 19.30: Mini-gourmet workshop for children.
18.30: Ricardo and Ana Pamies of Punto Cuchara offer a workshop.
19.30: Eduardo J. Cerezuela of Restaurante Bruma shows how to incorporate the freshly caught bluefin tuna of Mazarrón and the local “chato murciano” pork into Japanese cuisine.
20.30: Mario Gallart presents “Natzu in Mazarrón”, bringing the well-known Murcia ramen restaurant to the Costa Cálida.
22.00: DJ music with DJ Wedeck.
Saturday June 7
12.00: The tapas zone opens.
16.00: A selection of indie-pop hits.
18.30 and 19.30: Mini-gourmet workshop for children.
18.30: Presentation by Hugo Muñoz of the Michelin-starred Ugo Chan restaurant.
19.30: Matías Meza of Restaurante Baru demonstrates the use of tuna and citric fruit.
20.30: The spotlight is on David Arauz of the Michelin-starred Zuara Sushi.
22.00: DJ music with Anfri DJ.
Sunday June 8
12.00: The tapas zone opens.
16.00: Live music from Shuarma, an acoustic Elefantes tribute.
18.30 and 19.30: Mini-gourmet workshop for children.
18.30: Ricardo Fuentes presents a tuna slicing demonstration.
19.30: Tomás Écija of Restaurante El Albero demonstrates the use of tuna in Japanese cuisine.
20.30: The final presentation is given by Hideki Matsuhisa of the MIhcelin-starred Koy Shunka restaurant.
22.00: DJ music with Anfri DJ.
Monday June 9
12.00: The tapas zone opens.
16.00: DJ music.
19.30: The official end of the event.
