ARCHIVED - Magnitude 3 earthquake in Almeria this weekend
The epicentre of the tremor was located in the Almeria town of El Ejido

Andalucia has seen a lot of seismic action in the past few months and Almeria was the scene of the latest tremor following a magnitude 3 earthquake on Sunday February 12.
The earthquake took place at 9.31am and although its epicentre was tracked slightly to the east of the municipality of El Ejido, its effects were felt in several neighbouring towns in western Almería including Las Norias, Guardias Viejas and Santa María del Águila.
According to the National Geographic Institute (IGN), the quake occurred at a depth of 2 kilometres which means it was also noticed by residents Aguadulce and it was felt as far away as Roquetas de Mar, Puebla de Vícar and Almerimar, albeit with far less intensity.
Although the emergency services of Andalucia received several calls from concerned locals about the quake no damage or injury has been reported.
A magnitude 3 earthquake is considered “weak” and defined as a tremor that can be felt “by some inside buildings”. People experiencing this level of quake will usually feel only a slight rumble or sway and there’s normally no damage at all.
