Malaga cruises into May with 35 ships expected to dock
This month will be the second-busiest in Malaga port so far this year
Malaga’s sailing season got off to a busy start on May 1 with the docking of no fewer than three huge ocean lines packed full with tourists. The Norwegian Breakaway and the Costa Firenze made their debut appearances of the year and the bumper Monday was completed with the arrival of Odyssey of the Seas.
Barring any last-minute schedule changes, May is shaping up to be the second-busiest so far this year, with a total of 46 stopovers completed by 35 different cruise ships.
One of the standouts is the sheer number of liners that will dock in the coming weeks for the first time in 2023, and the waters of Malaga will soon prepare to welcome the premiere berths of the Vista, Viking Saturn, Disney Dream, Marella Voyager and Carnival Venezia ships in the coming weeks.
The king of the Costa del Sol over the next few weeks is set to be Holland America Line’s ship Oosterdam, which will berth no fewer than five times in the coming 31 days. She’s closely followed by the company Costa Cruises, which has scheduled nine dockings by five different vessels.
Another star of the show is sure to be The World returning to Malaga on the 16th after a break in 2022; this luxury ship is distinctive in that all of the cabins are owned by the passengers who sail on her.
And while the Port Authority is delighted with the sheer number of visiting boats this month, what is sure to delight onlookers the most is the great variety of different vessels that will dock in Malaga’s waters.
