Man imprisoned for killing and dismembering his mother in Málaga

Her son was arrested following the discovery of his mother's body and neighbours' reports

A 46-year-old man has been remanded in custody after allegedly murdering and dismembering his 67-year-old mother with an axe inside their home.

The incident occurred on Calle Proa, in the Los Prados neighbourhood of Málaga, where the mother and son had been living together. Judicial sources confirmed on Sunday, following his arrest by local police, that the man is facing charges of murder.

Officers discovered the dismembered body of the mother at the scene, along with the man, who was found holding the axe.

Neighbours reported seeing the man earlier that morning with the axe, striking bars near the front door of the house, which prompted them to alert the police. Upon arrival, officers found the disturbing scene inside the home. The woman’s body showed signs of being dismembered, and it is suspected that she had been dead for some time. According to sources, the man has psychiatric issues, though further details are yet to be disclosed.

Neighbours have also shared that the man had been a constant source of trouble for his mother, returning to the house after being kicked out multiple times. He was known for causing disturbances, having “destroyed” parts of the house, frequently yelling at her, and demanding money from her and the neighbours, allegedly to fund his drug use.

The Guardia Civil’s Murder Investigation Team in Malaga took charge over the weekend, with forensic experts gathering evidence from the scene.
