May 8-11 Imagina young art festival in San Javier
The Festival will showcase diverse artistic genres including photography, sculpture, installations and live performances
The
Imagina Festival returns to
San Javier this May 8 – 11, bringing the very best of the youth art scene to the streets of the Mar Menor. From Thursday to Sunday, 15 unique projects will be on display in different public spaces throughout the municipality.
Organised by the Youth Department, the festival of young and emerging art aims to "encourage creativity and provide a space where young creators can show their works," according to Councillor Isabel Madrid.
This year, enthusiasts will be able to sample stunning works of photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mural painting, installations, performances and workshops, which will be spread out across San Javier and
Santiago de la Ribera, in addition to dedicated display spaces at the El Mirador school and the Plaza de la Iglesia de Pozo Aledo.
As usual, Imagina is also an inclusive Festival with spaces occupied by veteran groups in the Festival, such as Ápices Salud Mental Cartagena who will bring their work ‘Treading on other planets’ to the terrace of the San Javier Library and Aidemar, who will present ‘The Little Prince, a multisensory flight’, in the Youth building.

‘With what the sea brings us’ will be a workshop in the hands of Pablo Cros, and in keeping with the history of the municipality, the programme will of course refer to aviation with pieces titled ‘The astronaut and the dream of flying’, by Karim Hamgeo, ‘Dreaming to fly, by Jota López and ‘Alas de cristal’, by Emma Hernández Sánchez.
Other works included in the catalogue of this edition are ‘El mundo arte’, by Milagros Avilés; ‘Inventing Ithaca. We all need a place, by Lola Marín; ‘Memory, Resignification and matter, by Candelaria Díaz and ‘Desl-ia, by Natividad Guerrero. De Tripas Aerosol will show its ‘Urban Games’ and Indaal ‘Dreams can be real.
‘Feel it, Climb it’ by Art Mateo and ‘Glitched Toons’ by Dante Arcade complete the list of works for this edition of the Festival, which will officially open on Thursday May 8 at 8pm at the San Javier Museum.
Councillor Isabel Madrid has invited everyone to come along to the inauguration of a festival "that is born from the ideas, energy and way of seeing the world of young people. Here they find a place to express themselves, create, participate and share with the rest of the citizens."
The public will be able to choose their favorite works through the open voting system on the Activa San Javier application.
