Milka advent calendars pulled from Spanish supermarket shelves over allergy concerns
Anyone with allergies who has purchased this festive gift is advised not to consume the chocolate

Advent calendars are proving hugely popular this Christmas with most stores and supermarkets offering their own version, and nothing says festive indulgence like a morsel or chocolate every day in the run-up.
For this reason, Milka advent calendars have been flying off the shelves, but there’s a big problem. Recent checks have revealed that several potentially dangerous ingredients haven’t been clearly listed on the packaging, so anyone with allergies or intolerances to milk, soy, hazelnuts, nuts, egg, wheat or gluten should avoid them at all costs.
The affected product is the Milka Pop-Up 3D advent calendar (the model containing a miniature Christmas tree to assemble in 3D), sold by Mondelēz International, with lot CWS1252831, a best before date of March 31, 2026 and barcode 7622202013584.
According to available information, the initial distribution was to Andalucia, Aragon, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Murcia and the Basque Country, although the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has not ruled out the possibility that it’s been sold farther afield.
Remaining stock of the advent calendar in question has been removed from supermarkets. AESAN recommends that people with allergies or intolerances to the aforementioned products refrain from consuming them, and that anyone who may have the product at home should also refrain from using it.
However, it has reiterated that its consumption poses no risk to the rest of the population.
Mondelēz International has stated that this issue arose due to the lack of Spanish-language labelling and that the ingredient and allergen list is the one typically used in Spain. For this reason, they have made the product's ingredient list, including allergens, available in Spanish to prevent any problems for consumers who may have allergies and/or intolerances.
Mondelēz International has confirmed in the statement that this situation only affects this specific batch mentioned; the rest of Milka's products and the Mondelēz Spain offer are not affected by this incident.
