Month-long Christmas celebrations in San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares
The Mar Menor towns are warming up for their biggest festive season ever
The festive season is just around the corner, and the municipalities of San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares are gearing up to make this Christmas one to remember. With a packed programme of activities, events and festivities, both towns are set to come alive with the spirit of the season.
San Pedro del Pinatar
San Pedro del Pinatar is transforming into a real-life ‘Christmas town’ for the entire month of December. The festivities kick off on Thursday December 5 with the opening of the Pinatarense Christmas Fair, featuring 18 shopping booths offering a wide range of products.
The market will run between 10.30am and 2pm, and again from 5pm until 8.30pm, for the duration.
The Plaza de la Constitución will be the hub of activity, hosting the lighting of the Christmas lights on the same day, accompanied by the ‘La Pandilla de Drilo’ and the JMJ Parish Choir.
Throughout the month, the Plaza de la Constitución will host an array of events including concerts, children's shows, bingo and other attractions.
The little ones will be thrilled to meet Santa Claus on December 20, when he arrives at the Christmas House with the show ‘It's Snowing in the City with Mingo and his Friends’.
They can also leave their letters to Santa on December 20, 21 and 22.
San Pedro’s commercial area will also be buzzing with activity, with a promotional campaign offering daily raffles of 50 euros at the Fair. A competition for the best decorated shop windows and nativity scenes will add to the festive atmosphere.
Los Alcázares
Los Alcázares is also gearing up for a festive season like no other. The town's Christmas programme of activities starts on Sunday December 1 with the official lighting of the Christmas tree at the Town Hall at 7pm. This marks the beginning of a month-long celebration that promises to delight residents and visitors of all ages.
Traditional events include the inauguration of the municipal Nativity scene on December 13, the Santa Claus parade for bikers on December 14 and the Christmas Bath on December 22.
The town will also welcome the arrival of the Three Wise Men on January 5.
For the little ones, Los Alcázares has prepared a range of activities, including children's workshops, concerts and the 'Navidadlandia' leisure area, which will be set up in the park-and-ride car park from December 20.
The town's Christmas Market, featuring typical local products, will also be open from December 18 to January 6 in the Plaza de la Feria.
"We invite everyone to join us to enjoy all the activities that await us in Los Alcázares this Christmas. No matter the age, or our interests, we will all find something special in Los Alcázares to enjoy Christmas in our municipality," says the mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Pérez Cervera.
